CTA Holds Prayer Service

The Central Tibetan Administration organises a prayer service at the main temple in Dharamsala on Friday, 5 October, to mourn and express solidarity with all those Tibetans who have self-immolated for the cause of Tibet, including Yungdrung and Jamyang Palden. After setting himself on fire in Zatoe in Yushul on 29 September, Yungdrung, a 27-year old youth, raised slogans demanding independence for Tibet, the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Eminence Gyalwang Karmapa to Tibet. His whereabouts remain unknown. Jamyang Palden, a 38-year-old monk of Rongwo monastery in Rebgong, who self-immolated on 14 March this year, succumbed to burn injuries at the monastery on 29 September. Thousands of Tibetans, including the entire officials of the CTA attended the prayer service.
