DHARAMSHALA: The Central Tibetan Administration will organise a function at the Kashag Secretariat to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October at 9:30 AM. Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay, members of the Kashag, CTA officials above the rank of joint secretary will attend the ceremony.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated as the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, who played a remarkable role in India’s freedom struggle using the power of truth and non-violent principles.  

The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on 15 June 2007, declaring Gandhi Jayanti as the International Day of Non-Violence.

The Central Tibetan Administration has been celebrating this important annual occasion.
