Paris, 5 July 2012: Bureau du Tibet, Paris in association with Tibet Group in the French Senate yesterday organised a reception to celebrate the birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who turns 77 on July 6.
The cocktail reception was held within the premises of Senate building, Palais du Luxumberg.
As per the decision of Kashag, Central Tibetan Administration, Kalon Ngodup Dongchung attended the celebration along with number of other French and foreign dignitaries that included, French parliamentarians, Paris based foreign Ambassadors and their representatives, representatives of different French support groups and welfare associations, Buddhist centers and members of Tibetan community in France.
To begin with, the President of Tibet Group in Senate, Honorable Jean Francois Humbert welcomed Kalon Ngodup Dongchung and all the guests and reiterated the Senate Tibet Group’s resolve to continue its support to the just cause of Tibetan people. “It is now more than ever, that the Tibetan people need our support”, Mr Humbert said.
He then invited Kalon Ngodup Dongchung to address the gathering.
In his address, the Kalon on behalf all the Tibetans, particularly those suffering Tibetans inside Tibet, thanked the people of France and the government for the sustained and steady support they have extended to the Tibetan people for these past many years.
He said the values and principles that His Holiness the Dalai Lama embodies are precious not just for the Tibetans, but to the humanity as a whole, which needed to be preserved and shared for a more peaceful and compassionate world.
After the cocktail, the President of the Senate Tibet Group invited Kalon Ngodup Dongchung to a dinner in his honour.
Kalon Ngodup Dongchung is currently on a four-nation European tour, during which he will be meeting government officials, parliamentarians, Tibet support groups and the Tibetan community members in France, Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.
