TAIPEI: Tibetans and Taiwanese Buddhists in Taiwan are gearing up to celebrate the 77th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama with a variety of religious and cultural programmes. This year, the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be celebrated in three major cities of Taiwan: Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taichung.
As His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s birthday approaches, the International Association of Tibetan Buddhist Dharma, a registered association of Taiwan, has posted birthday wishes to His Holiness on 20 city buses in Taipei city and 5 buses each in Kaohsiung and Taichung city.
Gaden Shartse Center in Taipei has also posted an advertisement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s birthday celebration in 6 compartments of each subway metro train to honour and to express birthday wishes to His Holiness. Taipei city metro is the quickest mode of public transport that runs through Taipei city all daylong from Xindian to Tamshui line, Bannan line and Xinzhuang Luzhou line.
On 1 July, the Office of Tibet in Taipei will organise a long life prayer service for His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Zhongying Lingxia building in Taipei. This venue accommodates 500 guests and His Eminence Sakya Trizin Rinpoche will grace the gathering for an hour. The other event in the afternoon will be a screening of a documentary film and cultural programme.
On 6 July, Gaden Shartse Center will hold an evening cultural program at Taipei international conference hall at 7 pm.
The International Association of Tibetan Buddhist Dharma, Taiwan will also organise a long life prayer service on 30 June, 7 and 8 July in the city of Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung City respectively.
