Tibetan Youth Arrested in Serthar, Eastern Tibet

DHARAMSHALA: Confirmed reports coming out of Tibet say, Samdup, a Tibetan youth, was arrested  by Chinese Public Security Bureau on 13 June 2012, in Serthar Dzong, northeastern Tibet.

31 year old Samdup whose father’s name is Sogyal hails from Gonchok Dewa in Serthar Dzong, eastern Tibet.The reason for his arrest is not given. His current whereabouts and physical condition is also not known.

Since the 2008 mass Tibetan uprising against the Chinese government, the people of Serthar Dzong have organised and participated in various peaceful protests against the failed policies of the Chinese government,particularly in 2011 and 2012, in course of these peaceful protests, many Tibetans were shot dead by Chinese police.
