Kalon Tripa’s Visit to Tso Pema Tibetan Settlement

21 May: Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay visited Tso Pema settlement as part of his official tour to the various Tibetan settlements under the Mandi district jurisdiction.

In his address to the people, Kalon Tripa assured the audience that the 14th Kashag is working successfully with the co-operation of the people to solve the Tibetan issue.

The Kashag is doing its best to highlight the urgent situation prevailing inside Tibet through international media organisations and it has already garnered support from various parliamentarians and parliaments of the world, he said.

He also stressed on the importance of education and said that it is the responsibility of every Tibetan to equip the future generation of Tibetans with modern education through love and affectionate guidance.

Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay was accompanied by Khorlatsang Sonam Topgyal, Secretary, Department of Home.

More than 250 people from the settlement as well as monks and nuns from the nearby monasteries and nunneries came to welcome him.

Kalon Tripa’s Visit to Bir and Chauntra Tibetan Settlement

19 May: Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay visited Bir and Chauntra Tibetan settlement for an official inspection. He was welcomed by the settlement officers of Bir Derge, Bir Bodtsog and Bir Chauntra Tibetan settlements.

Speaking to the people, Kalon Tripa said that the 14th Kashag is working wholeheartedly to solve the Tibetan issue through the three principles of Unity, Innovation and Self-Determination.

He said the problems faced by the Tibetan community will be solved through unity and with new innovative ideas and methods, the Tibetan movement will be more galvanised than ever before. And stressed the need for self-determination, saying every Tibetan should work hard to be able to stand on its own feet.

He also acknowledged the hard work of the older generations for the harmony and prosperity of the Tibetan settlements and added that the success of the Tibetan settlements in itself is an answer to the Chinese government.

Kalon Tripa added that with the efforts of the 14th Kashag, parliaments and parliamentarians from around the world have passed resolutions expressing solidarity and support to the Tibetan people.

Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay also visited the local hospital, Sambhota school, Mentseekhang and the nearby monasteries.
