BODH GAYA: Extolling the virtues of ancient Indian tradition, His Holiness said real Buddhism is training of the mind and not just prayers and reciting some mantras.
“Practice of single pointed mind and penetrative insight is the solution to develop a calm mind and lead a happy life” said His Holiness at a special address to foreigners at the Kalachakra in Bodh Gaya.
His Holiness noted at the gathering that all religions of the world are religions of humanity. All religions promote love, peace and happiness even though they pursue different philosophies and concepts of promotion.
His Holiness also said that the growing interest in Buddhism in the world today, is partly because of the unique Buddhist tradition of utilizing our intelligence to transform our destructive emotions.
Everyone has the right to pursue happiness but finding that proper method or antidote is necessary. Drugs and tranquilizers are just temporary solutions, he said.
His Holiness will lecture on Buddha dharma for the next three days before beginning the real Kalachakra initiations.
His Holiness had given special addresses on 3 January to Chinese devotees as well as to Buddhist devotees from the Himalayan ranges and for the newly arrived Tibetans from Tibet.
