Chauntra, Himachal Pradesh: The Tibetan community of Bir Nangchen Settlement marked the historic occasion of the 51st Tibetan democracy day at 9.00 am today. The celebration was attended by Settlement officers, members of the regional associations as well as representatives from the various monasteries of the area. The function was held at the Chauntra community hall.

The Settlement officer, Mr Tenzin Rabga, read out the Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay’s statement on the 51st Tibetan Democracy day. He gave a brief description of the developments of Tibetan democracy since its inception on the 2nd of September 1960. He added that, to have a fully democratic system in our polity, we should fulfill our duties as responsible citizens first and urged the people to participate whole heartedly in the electoral system.
The Speaker of the Regional People’s Deputy, Mr Tenzin Yougal read out the statement of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile at the event.
