Dharamshala:
An environmental researcher from the Central Tibetan Administration in
Dharamsala delivered a talk on Tibet’s environmental issues at the
Second Action and Skill Sharing Camp
organised by the Tibetan Youth Association in Europe
(TYAE)
in Switzerland from 16 – 19 September. More
than twenty young Tibetans from Switzerland and Germany gathered to
attend different workshops about media, actions and campaigns and
public speaking.Mr Tenzin Norbu, the executive head of the
Department of Information and International Relations’ Environment and
Development Desk, conducted a very interesting one-hour presentation
with a question and answer session about the environment and climate
change in Tibet. He also informed the audience about the critical
issues of nomadic resettlement programmes and exploitation of mineral
resources in Tibet.
The
TYAE had the honour to welcome Tenzin Norbu as a special guest. The
attendants appreciated Mr Norbu’s visit very much, TYAE President
Norzin-Lhamo Dotschung said.
The
participants were really concerned over the environmental degradation
happening inside Tibet as a result of climate change and wrong policies
of the Chinese government, Mr Tenzin Norbu said in an email message to TibetNet.
On 19 September, Mr Norbu was invited by Tibetans in Basel to speak on Tibet’s environmental conditions.
