Tibetan Parliament Speaker in Norway meets MPs, Officials of Foreign Ministry and the Tibetans [Thursday, 10 June 2010, 4:11p.m.]

Oslo: Speaker
Penpa Tsering of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile met with the Members
of the Norwegian Parliamentary Group on Tibet and the representatives
of Norwegian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday in his three-day visit to
Norway from 6 to 8th June. Speaker Penpa Tsering discussed
ways to intensify engagement by the Norwegian authorities and other
institutions to encourage the Chinese authorities to enter fruitful
negotiations with the Tibetan Envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Speaker
Penpa Tsering on meeting with the representatives of the Norwegian
Foreign Ministry on Tuesday morning disscussed mainly on Tibet issues,
including the dialogue process of the envoy’s of His Holiness the Dalai
Lama with the Chinese government. Besides, Speaker Penpa
Tsering with representatives from the Norwegian Tibet Committee, gave a
public talk at the Norwegian Human Rights House on Monday evening.

In
this short visit Speaker Penpa Tsering on reaching Oslo on Sunday met
with the Tibetan Community in Norway. He addressed the community about
the workings of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and the
democratic institutions in exile. The speaker encouraged the Tibetans
to make their Green Book contributions to support the workings of the
CTA. This meeting ended with a healthy questions and answers series. The
speaker and Mrs. Chungdak Koren from the Norwegian Tibet Committee,
attended a lecture by the PRC Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fu Ying
on Monday, 7th June.After the successful visit in Oslo Mr. Penpa Tsering on Tuesday evening left for Denmark.The
speaker’s visit was jointly organized by the Norwegian Tibet Committee
and the Foundation of the Voice of Tibet’s administrative office in
Oslo.
