Boys Show Stellar Performance in 10th Board Exam Among Tibetan Schools[Monday, 31 May 2010, 2:27 p.m.]

The boys have outperformed girls among the twenty-eight Tibetan schools
in the historic grading system class X board exam conducted by the
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the results of which was
declared last Friday.Under the new grading system, the CBSE has
introduced a nine-point scale —A 1 (91-100 marks), A2 (81-90 ), B1
(71-80 ), B2 (61-70 ), C1 (51-60 ), C2 (41-50 ), D (33-40 ), E1 (21-32
) and E2 (20 and below). Under the new system, students who
obtained the grades (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D) would be awarded
qualifying certificates and thus become eligible for admission into
Class XI. Those who secure E1 and E2 grades will get five chances for
improving their performance. Also the board will award merit
certificates to candidates who obtain A1 in all the five subjects. 1519
students out of the actual strength of 1574 had appeared in the exam.
1319 students secured qualifying certificates and 130 will have to
reappear for the exam. The pass percentage of boys recorded 93.82 as against 88.90% for girls. The overall pass percentage was 91.44, which witnessed a leap from last year’s 86.9%.The
Tibetan schools were ranked as follows: CST Chandragiri (100%), CST
Dalhousie (100%), CST Dholanji (100%), CST Gurupura (100%), CST Sonada
(100%), TCV Selakui (100%), THF Rajpur (100%), CST Mundgod (98.57%),
CTS Kalimpong (98.31%), CTS Shimla (98.25%), TCV Lower Dharamsala
(98.25%), TCV-SOS Suja (97.00%), CST Kollegal (96.00%), TCV Gopalpur
(95.79%), TCV-SOS Bylakuppe (95.35%), TCV Chauntara (95.18%), CST
Mussoorie (92.00%), CST Chauntara (91.30%), STS Bhuntar (91.30%), CST
Darjeeling (91.14%), TCV Upper Dharamsala (90.52%), CST CVP Bylakuppe
(87.88%), CST Bylakuppe (84.00%), TCV-SOS Ladakh (78.49%), THF
Mussoorie (76.25%), CST Herbertpur (73.17%), TNMF Clementown (70.37%)
and CST Paonta (70.27%). The top five toppers were Yangkyi
Lhatso of TCV Selakui with 9.8 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA);
Tenzin Tsetan, TCV Selakui with 9.8 CGPA; Tenzin Tashi, TCV Selakui
with 9.6 CGPA; Akash Aggarwal, CST Herbertpur with 9.6 CGPA; Megha
Gakhar, CST Herbertpur with 9.6 CGPA; Dechen Sangmo, TCV Selakui with
9.6 CGPA and Dechen Yangkyi, TCV Selakui with 9.6 CGPA.
