Dharamsala:

White House Map Room on 18 February, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs
said Thursday.“The president looks forward to an engaging and constructive dialogue,” Gibbs said. This would be the first meeting between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Obama as the US President. The White House earlier said the issue was discussed when President Obama met the Chinese president in November.”The
President told China’s leaders during his trip last year that he would
meet with the Dalai Lama, and he intends to do so. The Dalai Lama is an
internationally respected religious and cultural leader, and the
President will meet him in that capacity,” Deputy Press Secretary Bill

concerns about the treatment of Tibetans. We urge the government of
China to protect the unique cultural and religious traditions of
Tibet,” Burton said.
