Dharamshala: India should take a “more active role” in promoting religious harmony abroad, His Holiness the Dalai Lama said yesterday in New Delhi, IANS reported.“India must take a more active role in promoting peace and religious harmony in the new world, which are heavily interdependent,” His Holiness said at the inaugural session of the India Today Conclave.His Holiness felt that many countries, “whether they are Muslim or Christian or otherwise, are not comfortable with the concept of secularism”, which made it imperative on India to promote human values.” His Holiness said the Indian media has to play an important role in this.His Holiness added that he felt “great honour” that India was his “spiritual home” for the last five decades.His Holiness said he was a messenger of India and would take Indian values across the globe. “You are the guru and we are the chela (disciples),” His Holiness said.His Holiness the Dalai Lama noted that there was no scope for violence or force in finding solution for any issue. His Holiness stressed the need for dialogue in addressing the dissatisfaction of different sections of the society.A number of leaders across the world apart from policy experts and diplomats and academicians addressed the conclave.
