On 5th November 2008, Mr. T.T. Karma Chophel, Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, on behalf of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile sent a congratulatory letter to the US President elect, Senator Mr. Barack Obama, on the historic victory to the most prestigious seat of President of the United States of America.
 
The Speaker thanked the US President elect for his position on Tibet and expressed his hope that the good relation between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the White House will continue to remain the same under the Presidency as is during the tenure of President George Bush.
