Trentino regional assembly members condemn China’s Policy

Dharamshala: A 15-member delegation from the regional assembly of Trentino – South Tyrol Italy, who were on a five-day visit to Dharamshala, strongly condemned China’s policy on Tibet, at a press conference on 29 September at Department of Information and International Relations.
Dr Franz Pahl, the President of the Trentino regional assembly, while addressing the press conference said, ” We strongly condemn the China’s policy in Tibet,” adding that ” the situation and continuous policy of violations of human rights by the Chinese is unacceptable to the democratic International communities.”
He further said, “Tibet is not a part of China, and the military invasion of Tibet by the Chinese army is absolutely illegal.”
“We will remain steadfast to support the Tibet issue and voice against the poor human rights situation”.
The Mayor of Cologno Monzese, Mr Mario Soldano said, “the democratic countries should condemn China’s oppressive rule of Tibet, if not democracy will lose its credibility”.He further added, “All the democratic government should condemn, and speak against China’s oppressive policy in Tibet.
Mr Giorgio Cassagranda, an assembly member said, “the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing is a great opportunity to push forward the issue of Tibet”.
The members said that their support for the Tibetan issue more than ever before, after seeing the real situation in Dharamshala and talking to the Tibetan representatives of the Central Tibetan Administration.
Earlier, the parliament delegation met His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 28 September.
The members also met Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, and members of the Kashag.
